Rugby dinner with singer raises £5,000 for club

A DINNER raised more than £5,000 for Henley Rugby Club.

About 110 people attended the James Bond-themed event last Friday night.

Guests had a three-course dinner, welcome drink and entertainment courtesy of Paula Randell, a Dame Shirley Bassey tribute act, and DJ Jason Lewis.

An auction was also held with prizes including, a home dining experience for up to eight people by Michelin-trained chef Simon McKenzie, a rowing experience with Rory Gibbs and international tickets for England v France at Twickenham in the Six Nations and lunch at the Hart Street Tavern.

Laurence Morris, who is part of the fundraising committee, said: “The evening was amazing — it was a fantastic evening for everyone.”

The event was sponsored by Dallas and Co solicitors and Loake shoes.
