Girls win award from Amnesty for school fund-raiser

Girls win award from Amnesty for school fund-raiser
TWO pupils at Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common have won an award from Amnesty International.

Bethany McWhinnie, 15, and Holly Jeffreys, 16, were honoured in the special achievement in fund-raising category at the 2014 Amnesty Youth Awards.

Earlier this year, the year 11 pupils raised £400 for the charity with a concert at the Reades Lane school that they organised.

Bethany, from Emmer Green, said: “We got lots of acts from the school to perform and everyone had a really nice time and got to listen to good music.

“It is great to make a difference. Even if it is a small contribution, it is still fighting for Amnesty causes. It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can still do something.”
