Four artists exhibiting together

Four artists exhibiting together

ARTISTS Denby Richards and Caroline Streatfield-Chalk are returning to the Old Fire Station Gallery in Upper Market Place, Henley, from Thursday (December 15) to Tuesday, December 20.

Exhibiting for the first time alongside Denby and Caroline are potter Rosie Penderel Taylor, and mixed media artist Trish Grimes.

Printmaker Denby Richards was an art student in the Sixties and used to manage bands. He started designing posters for bands including The Who.

He then went on to work in education and has recently has been travelling and, as he puts it, “creating prints that capture the mood or feel of a place, whether it’s the ethereal otherworldiness of Machu Picchu or the warm weathered stones of a Cotswold pub.”

Caroline Streatfield-Chalk has taught art for more than 20 years in colleges and community groups. Her work is inspired by moments in time that are experienced and imagined and that come from her inner world where everything is calm.

“My starting point for my most recent work comes from a significant view or memory, but it has also come from dreams,” she says. “I’m inspired by subconscious collective memories. It’s the connections to these places that bring us together as humans that I’m drawn to.”

The exhibition, entitled Four at the Old Fire Station Gallery, is open daily from 10am to 4pm. On Friday, December 16, there is late opening until 9pm.
