Light up your home with art

DECK YOUR WALLS - with Artworks for Life from Berlin this Christmas.

DECK YOUR WALLS - with Artworks for Life from Berlin this Christmas.

Curator Simon Hearnden returns to the Old Fire Station Gallery from December 10 to 15.

Deck Your Walls promises to be another refreshing exhibition of decorative and eclectic artworks, prints and glassware from Berlin, offering alternative Christmas gift solutions that are more meaningfully artworks for life.

Simon has continued delving earnestly into the Berlin art world, mostly dealing with established but often lesser-known artists, as fads can pass all too quickly.

His Berlin Walls events showcase these artworks around the Home Counties, offering a new dimension to art that can be sourced locally. Simon says: “Looking online it is difficult to ascertain the true quality and value of what you think you see.” The exceptional surrealist sculptures of glass artist Kristian Klepsch recently caught Simon’s eye. Unique, collectable and appealing limited edition moulded glass or engraved dreamscapes are refreshingly different, pushing the boundaries of glass as a decorative medium.

Also hung on the walls of the gallery, which is situated behind Henley town hall, will be lithographs, printed from stones by a leading Berlin art publisher, plus further monotype originals from Walter Lindner.

You might wish to light up your walls with some interesting contemporary back-lit canvases, from artist collective Entmartist. Simon, the brother of Antiques Roadshow expert Jonty Hearnden, fell in love wih German artwork 10 years ago while in Berlin.

Simon has been steadily grown his collection of German works for the past decade and has sold pieces by Lindner to interior designers in Chelsea.

Deck Your Walls opens December 10 to 15 from 9.30am to 6pm daily (Thursday 10th from 3pm).
