Church marks Fairtrade Fortnight

A CELEBRATION of fairtrade products is to be held at the Christ Church Centre in Henley.

A CELEBRATION of fairtrade products is to be held at the Christ Church Centre in Henley.

Fairtrade Fortnight will begin on Monday and run until March 10.

There will be a display about Fairtrade in the concourse and organisers hope to have a stall of groceries on two days a week to raise awareness among visitors.

Jeni Wood, a member of the congregation, said: “We are so fortunate in Henley compared with other places in the world where they have to suffer severe weather conditions to even get their crops and probably have to travel miles for water.

“I think the least we can do is to support fair trade.”

Christ Church already uses Fairtrade tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and fruit drinks after services and in all meetings for which it has responsibility.

The centre is looking for volunteers to man stalls. Anyone interested should see Jeanne Stone at the centre in Reading Road.
