Parkinson’s UK centre opens

THE Henley branch of Parkinson’s UK held its inaugural meeting last week.

THE Henley branch of Parkinson’s UK held its inaugural meeting last week.

About 50 sufferers of Parkinson’s and their carers attended the event with Mayor Elizabeth Hodgkin at the Christ Church Centre. The role of the branch is to support Parkinson’s sufferers and carers, change attitudes to the condition and ultimately help find a cure through fund-raising for research. A demonstration by English National Ballet showed how movement and music can be helpful to Parkinson’s sufferers. Dr Terry Dudeney was elected as chairman and a committee was elected. The regional manager of Parkinson’s UK officially granted branch status to the group and the new chairman read a message from Steve Ford, Chief Executive of Parkinson’s UK.
