Puppets and daffodils

A CHILDREN’S puppet workshop will kick off this year’s daffodil teas in Pyrton on Sunday.

A CHILDREN’S puppet workshop will kick off this year’s daffodil teas in Pyrton on Sunday.

The annual tea, run by St Mary’s Church, will take place in the village hall over two weekends instead of the usual one.

Churchwarden Jenny Lockwood said: “Previously we have not felt that we would be able to man it for two weeks but we have got several volunteers this year to help with the cooking and the teas.”

The workshop will take place in the church from 1.30pm and will be followed by a puppet show performed by the children from 3pm.

Mrs Lockwood said: “A lot of the children have taken an interest in the puppets and the workshop will give them a chance to learn before putting on the show.”

Afternoon teas will be on sale in the hall from 2pm to 5pm on both Sundays. Proceeds will go towards the ongoing refurbishment of the church which includes re-pointing the flint walls and repairing the window leading. The inside of the church will be tackled next year.
