ABOUT £2,000 was raised at St Leonard’s Church fete in Watlington on Saturday.

More than 450 people visited the annual fund-raiser in the church grounds off Pyrton Lane.

Attractions included traditional games, community group stalls and music from Watlington Concert Band. Visitors could also go up the church tower.

A barbecue was provided by butchers Calnan Bros and afternoon tea, cakes and ice creams were also available.

The children’s corner included a bouncy slide, face-painting and the opportunity to decorate toy animals and hearts.

The Friends of St Leonard’s Church helped children decorate gingerbread Christmas trees to help promote this year’s Christmas tree festival.

Organiser Heather Morrison, a member of the parochial church council, said: “There was a lovely family atmosphere and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was lovely to see so many young people there. The fact that it was a really nice afternoon weather-wise made a huge difference.”
