A HARVEST festival and produce auction will be held on Sunday (September 29).A commemorative service will be held at St Botolph’s Church in Swyncombe, which will be decorated with fruit and vegetables, at 11am.
Parishoners with a ticket for the sold-out harvest lunch in Russell’s Water village hall will then attend the meal at 12pm ahead of the auction.
Farmer David Orpwood, of Woods farm in Britwell Farm, will auction off fruit and vegetables donated by the public or grown by members of Steppin’ Stones, the day centre in Cowley, Oxford. The auction is in aid of the centre.
and director Nigel Northcott will be among those attending the event.
John Sennett, one of the organisers, said: “It is wonderful to have sold out but it is marvellous for us in a rural community to actually appreciate that God has us the gift of all these people to come to our social event to celebrate the harvest.”
