Brigadier to speak

A RETIRED soldier will be the speaker at this year’s remembrance service at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave.

A RETIRED soldier will be the speaker at this year’s remembrance service at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave.

Brigadier Ian Dobbie served for 35 years in Germany, Northern Ireland and the Gulf as well as being an instructor at Sandhurst and the Ministry of Defence.

Brig Dobbie, whose grandfather was governor of Malta during the Second World War, has worked for various churches and Christian organisations since retiring.

The service on Sunday, November 10 will begin at 10am and will be preceded by a parade through the village organised by the Wargrave branch of the Royal British Legion.

The service will move to the war memorial at 10.45am with a two-minute silence at 11am.
