Harvest helps the homless

A HARVEST festival event at Swyncombe church raised almost £1,500 for a charity that helps the homeless.

St Botolph’s was full of fruit and vegetables, which was later sold at an auction led by David Orpwood in the village hall in nearby Russell’s Water.

There was also a celebration lunch, a raffle and a church collection, which raised a total of £1,430 for the Porch Steppin’ Stone Centre in Cowley, Oxford.

Rachel Parfitt, Porch project manager, Louise Simpson, a volunteer, and Ellie Urben, a worker for the charity, were guests for the day.

The lunch was prepared by Marlene Richards, Felicity Bazell, Lou Campbell and Janice Bayford who were thanked for their efforts.
