DIRECTOR James Cameron’s epic 2009 sci-fi film Avatar first introduced audiences to the Na’vi, humanoid species from the moon Pandora. Paralysed ex-Marine Jake (Sam Worthington) moved into his avatar body and coupled up with Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). It was followed by Avatar: The Way of Water, in 2022.
In threequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash (2D) (12A), out today at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley, Jake and Neytiri are mourning the loss of their eldest son, Neteyam. They encounter the aggressive Ash People, a new Na’vi tribe led by Varang. There is conflict on Pandora and the tribe faces complex moral decisions. The film has a running time of three hours and 12 minutes.
Also out today is The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants (PG), in which SpongeBob and his sidekick Patrick Star follow the flying Dutchman on a seafaring adventure.
The film has a running time of one hour and 36 minutes.
