Tennis tribute

A NEW tournament will be held at Wargrave Tennis Club in memory of its former president.

A NEW tournament will be held at Wargrave Tennis Club in memory of its former president.

John Coghlan died in June, aged 93. He joined the club in 1975 when he moved to the village and was made president in 1995.

A talented player himself, Mr Coghlan narrowly missed out on playing in the junior Wimbledon tournament as a youngster. He served on various committees at the All England Club and helped set up the Tennis Museum.

The President’s Tournament will take place on August 29 and is open to all members.

The proceeds will go to the Wargrave branch of the Royal British Legion.
