Open day at care home

AN open day was held at Lashbrook House care home in Shiplake on Friday.

AN open day was held at Lashbrook House care home in Shiplake on Friday.

Residents and guests enjoyed a buffet lunch and there was country and western singing in the afternoon.

Guests included representatives from Meteor Stroke Club, the Mayor of Henley Julian Brookes and members of the public, who had the opportunity to look around the home.

Louise Light, a leisure and lifestyle co-ordinator at the home, said: “We’re a dementia friendly home. It keeps the public aware of what dementia is and it affects so many people.”

Pauline Woolford, another co-ordinator, added: “Unless you’re actually involved with someone with dementia you’re not always aware.”

Councillor Brookes: “I’ve been to Acacia Lodge. I want to go and see where the elderly are being taken of since it’s such a big part of life and in 20 years I’ll be needing one myself!

“Just as I’ve been going to the schools, I want to get involved in both ends of the age spectrum.”

If you would like any information on the home please contact Rhonda Herring or Jacquie Bouldin on (01189) 401770.
