Sonning Common club may fold after 49 years

A CLUB in Sonning Common may have to fold only a year before its 50th anniversary due to a lack of members.

The Sonning Common Society needs three people to come forward to plan its annual programme of events or it will have to close.

The society is looking for a new chairman, secretary and treasurer to volunteer for about one hour a month.

Mark Richards, the current chairman, is stepping down after seven years as he is moving out of the area.

He said: “The club started in the Sixties to help look after the fabric of the village but a lot of the members have fallen by the wayside.
