Nearly 30 cubs took part in the inaugural South Chilterns District Cubs cross country competition.

Nearly 30 cubs took part in the inaugural South Chilterns District Cubs cross country competition.

Cubs from Goring, Goring Heath, Henley Monday, Henley Friday, Shiplake Sonning Common and Stoke Row ran the 1.5 mile course around Stoke Row recreation ground and through the woods.

The individual winner was Hugo Warner, of Henley Friday, and the winning pack was Goring.

Chris Lee, Shere Khan of Stoke Row cubs, said: “There are a number of competitions between the packs in our district so with the great facilities at Stoke Row Recreation Ground and my experience of organising previous races there it seemed an obvious new competition to add.

“The cubs coped well with the mud, leaves, stones and branches in the woods and the two lap course meant that the spectators had plenty of cheering opportunities.”

He plans to make the competition an annual event.
