MORE than 100 people enjoyed glorious sunshine as Wargrave Boating Club held its annual open day.

Families tested their skills on the water while members signed up for this season’s kayaking, rowing, skiffing and punting training courses.

Nick Towers officially took over as chairman from Steve Huyton and a traditional wooden double dinghy joined the boating fleet at the Station Road club.

Member Sue Gutierrez said: “Thanks to all the club members who provided home-made cakes, manned the barbecue and bar and to all those who had helped make the club look so smart for the day. It was good to see children and adults out on the water and let’s hope the weather was a good omen for a wonderful spring and summer on the river.”
