CAVERSHAM Tangent Club has donated £850 to the Sue Ryder Hospice in Nettlebed.
The society, which is the over-40s section of the Round Table’s Ladies Circle, collected the money at a series of fund-raisers over the past 12 months.
These include a coffee morning at past chairman Vicki Mountford’s house in Kennylands Road, Sonning Common, which raised £200.
Mrs Mountford chose to support the hospice as it cared for her husband Michael before he passed away some years ago.
The hospice, which was founded at the Fleming family’s former home Joyce Grove 34 years ago, needs £1.4m a year to meet its costs.
This year’s Caversham Tangent chairman Sue Simpson has agreed to continue supporting it.
Mrs Simpson, who volunteers at the hospice once a week, said: “There are so few places like this and it has such a lovely atmosphere.
“It is a place where people can die with dignity and surrounded with a great deal of love and care.”
