Willing festival fans

RESIDENTS of Mapledurham are to help clear up after Reading Festival for the third year running.

RESIDENTS of Mapledurham are to help clear up after Reading Festival for the third year running.

Warren and District Residents’ Association has recruited more than 50 young people who have volunteered to work on the Monday afternoon and the whole of Tuesday after the event, which takes place from August 23 to 25.

Festival Republic, the event organisers, have offered them free weekend tickets to the festival in exchange for their efforts. As in previous years, metal from camping chairs and tent frames found on the campsites will be recycled by A4 Metal Recycling.

Unclaimed camping gear, including tents, sleeping bags, wellies, ground sheets, lanterns, torches, chairs, barbecues, fishing stools and tubs will be put on sale at the Mapledurham Pavilion on Sunday, September 1 from 10am to 4pm.

The proceeds will go to the pavilion refurbishment fund.
