Hall extension plan

AN extension could be built on top of Peppard war memorial hall to create toilets and storage space.

AN extension could be built on top of Peppard war memorial hall to create toilets and storage space.

The idea was discussed at the annual meeting of the hall management committee, which agreed to form a sub-committee to come up with a detailed five-year plan.

Councillor Hadley Cooper told a meeting of the parish council that the extension sounded “quite expensive”.

He also reported that the hall had increased its revenue and decreased costs to produce a balance of £9,080.

Trustee Tony Hill had told the committee that most of expenditure over the past year was on maintenance and £40,000 was still needed for roof repairs.

Cllr Cooper said hall had repeat bookings for pilates, karate and zumba classes and from the table tennis club but the bowls club was in “some difficulty” due to the ageing and declining membership.

A casino evening is due to be held in the hall on November 9 to raise funds.
