A RUBY ball raised more than £7,000 for Rotherfield United FC.

A RUBY ball raised more than £7,000 for Rotherfield United FC.

The money will go towards the club’s £60,000 appeal for a new clubhouse at the Bishopswood Sports Ground in Gallowstree Common.

Ninety-two people attended the black-tie event in the grand hall at Shiplake College. Fiona Allnutt, a member of the organising committee, said: “It was a brilliant night and everyone seemed to have a great time.

“The diners were mainly the parents of the children who play, ranging from the under-fives to the under-16s. It was nice for everyone to get together.” The event began with a champagne reception before the three-course meal, an auction, silent auction and disco.

All the decorations were ruby-themed, including large red flowers made by Lucy Vickers, to celebrate the club’s 40th anniversary.
