A COMPLETE record of the entire contents of St Mary’s Church in Henley was presented to the Rector Canon Martyn Griffiths during a Sunday service.
Members of the Henley and Goring Decorative & Fine Arts Societies worked together for six years to produce the detailed record, which comprises 300 pages of text and 200 pages of colour photographs.
Geraldine Crippen, vice-chairman of the Henley society, said: “As a very large church, St Mary’s was a major undertaking for an inexperienced group of recorders but the considerable individual skills of members of the group under the guidance of the Nadfas area chairman of church recorders enabled the group to spend six years of hard but enjoyable work together.”
There are now about 1,750 parish churches that have been recorded in this way.
