Lifesavers for village

A WOMAN is calling for two defibrillators to be installed in Shiplake.

A WOMAN is calling for two defibrillators to be installed in Shiplake.

Helen Robinson says she was convinced of the need after hearing a presentation by first aid expert Suzanne Stickley.

She suggests locating one device at the memorial hall and another at the village shop so they are in easy reach of Lower Shiplake and Shiplake Cross.

Mrs Robinson said: “I heard a talk at the Women’s Institute from Suzanne Stickley who sold the idea of a defibrillator and how good they are.

“I thought this was something that the village ought to get behind. I talked to a few people and it is something that I want to pursue.”

Tudor Taylor, who chairs Shiplake Parish Council, said the issue would be discussed at its meeting on Monday following another presentation from Mrs Stickley, of First Aid Matters.

He added: “We have had a number of people ask us about it and we will consider whether it is a good idea.”
