Henley Probus Club Update

LOCAL landscape photographer Jon Scourse spoke to members about the Chiltern Hills during their January meeting at Badgemore Park Golf

LOCAL landscape photographer Jon Scourse spoke to members about the Chiltern Hills during their January meeting at Badgemore Park Golf Club.

He showed many stunning photographic images from many parts of the area, all of which are featured in his recently published book, The Chilterns.

Jon stressed that the essence of the Chilterns is “chalk and trees”. Beech woods were mostly planted to provide raw materials for furniture making.

He also talked about the archaeological and historical influences that shaped the area, notably the need for communications between London and the Midlands.

In addition, he talked about the local wildlife and the many well-known local locations for recent films and TV productions as well as the imminent HS2 link.

Henley Probus Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Badgemore Park Golf Club at 10.30am.
