MORE than 100 people visited Sonning Common library on Saturday thanks to an event to mark National Libraries Day.

Activities included story time, quizzes for adults and children and crafts. There was also a cake sale, which raised money for the craft materials.

Library manager Rosemary Dunstan said: "We normally have between 50 and 60 visitors on a Saturday so to double that figure was really good. We had lots of children taking part in the crafts, which was fairly chaotic!"

National Libraries Day was launched four years ago in response to cuts at libraries across the UK.
