WE are hoping to host a presentation by the deans of our two business schools in May or June. The theme is likely to be 'Art in business' and we hope that the newly renovated Fawley Court will be the venue.
It is also hoped that the lecture will be attended by business groups from both Henley and Bled.
Following the successful inaugural visit in September 2013 and the return visit of young rowers from Bled in August 2014, we are planning a further trip to Bled to coincide with one of the rowing world cup events on Lake Bled.
Enquiries are being made with music and performing arts groups in Henley to see what interest exists. Bled offers a diverse range of choral and instrumental groups as well as opportunities for most sports and activities.
Some suggestions have been made to link the triathlon groups and open water swimmers and we are keen to find out about different organisations that feel they would benefit from an association.
As part of the continuing attempts to bring the produce of different European countries to Henley, talks are in progress with a view to inviting wine, cheese and other producers of Slovenian gastronomic delicacies to exhibit their wares in Henley Market Place.
In addition we are hoping that Bled will want to take part in the Henley Show.
With the benefit of Skype, the pupils at Peppard Primary School have forged a good connection with their counterparts in Bled. We are hoping that this will lead to long-term connections between both the children and their parents.
We hope to celebrate England's qualification for the European Championships by taking a small party to Bled in June to play in an informal game before moving on to see their game in the qualifying rounds against Slovenia, which will be played in Ljubljana on June 14.
Membership of the association is open to anyone with an interest in the fostering of closer connections between the two towns. For more information, send an email to the secretary Elizabeth Hodgkin at email@example.com
