Hollywood-themed quiz night with (cardboard) Clooney
ACTOR George Clooney made a surprise appearance at the Charvil quiz night on Saturday
ACTOR George Clooney made a surprise appearance at the Charvil quiz night on Saturday - well, sort of.
A lifesize cardboard cut-out of the Hollywood star, who recently bought a house in Sonning, joined the teams for the annual event at the the village hall and competitors queued up to have their pictures taken with it.
More than 70 people took part in the quiz, which had a Hollywood theme and consisted of eight rounds of movie trivia. The questions were set by John Pellaumail and posed by Dave Smith. A range of cinema-style snacks was on offer, including popcorn and hotdogs.
The quiz was won by The Mouseketeers, captained by Gary Reynolds, while villager Venetia Croxford’s team were runners-up so she was gifted the stand-in Clooney.
The quiz was in aid of Charvil Residents’ Association and raised almost £400.
Organiser Tess Dixon said: “Being greeted on the red carpet by George Clooney seemed to put everyone in a good mood and the whole evening was a lot of fun.”
