Profitable questions

A QUIZ in aid of Henley Town and Visitors’ Regatta raised £700.

A QUIZ in aid of Henley Town and Visitors’ Regatta raised £700.

About 100 people attended the event at Henley Rugby Club on Friday evening.

The quizmasters were  Richard Hodgkin, the organiser, and David Skinner, a member of Henley Lions Club. The subjects included Oxfordshire, the British seaside, myth or truth, captains and assassinations.

Teams were entered by regatta chairman Mike Williams and president Mark Davies. Other attendees included Mayor Lorraine Hillier and former Henley Royal Regatta chairman Mike Sweeney. One of Mr Williams’s teams won.

The quiz has been held annually for the last five years.

Mr Hodgkin, of Nicholas Road, Henley, said: “The event had a lovely atmosphere and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. The money will go towards keeping the costs of entry fees down, particularly for the young people. That’s very important, especially for younger rowers.”

Next year’s regatta will take place on July 30.
