ROWENA ARCHER will give a lecture called “Agincourt war widows” at St Mary’s Church in Ewelme on Saturday, October 24 (3pm).

She is a lecturer in medieval history at Christ Church in Oxford and fellow of Brasenose College.

The event includes a tour of the cloisters and afternoon tea for £10.

At 6pm, Amici Voices will perform music from the 15th century with Terence Charlston on the organ.

Tickets cost £15, which includes a glass of wine, and are available from the Rev Jonathan Meyer, Shirley Meyer or Ewelme Store.

St Mary’s is lending two carved oak angels from the tomb of Alice de la Pole, Duchess of Suffolk, to an exhibition marking the 600th anniversary of Agincourt to take place at the Royal Armouries in the Tower of London from October 23 to January 31.

Alice was the granddaughter of Geoffrey Chaucer and her medieval alabaster tomb is preserved in the church.
