Celebrating 20 years of Henley Hares

MEMBERS of a Henley running club celebrated its 20th anniversary with a party.

MEMBERS of a Henley running club celebrated its 20th anniversary with a party.

Henley Hares was founded in 1995 to allow residents to take part in social runs but over the years members have also used it to train for competitive events. The club currently has almost 40 members.

Dozens of people attended the celebration at Daisy?s Coffee Shop in Dog Lane, Peppard, on Sunday, where a slideshow of photos from over the years was shown and awards were handed out.

Among those to be honoured were founders George Trevelyan, Anthea Osborn-Jones and Linda Haines, while more light-hearted awards for ?misbehaviour? were also presented. Members were also given T-shirts marking the milestone.

Member Neil Duguid, whose company Henley Information Systems sponsored the T-shirts, said: ?The club is just an informal group of people who meet every Saturday.

?We have no formal constitution, membership or subscription ? some people come every week and some twice a year. It?s running for fun.

?The party was a celebration and recognition of the fact that we?ve been in existence for 20 years and we also had one or two awards.?
