CHILDREN from the 1st Shiplake scout group hosted a tea party for the elderly.

CHILDREN from the 1st Shiplake scout group hosted a tea party for the elderly.

Beavers, cubs and scouts welcomed several dozen residents from Shiplake, Binfield Heath, Dunsden and Harpsden to the annual event at Shiplake Memorial Hall.

The children played card games and dominoes with their guests while scout leaders and parent volunteers served tea and cakes.

Group scout leader Debs Boughey said: “We wanted to give the older generations an opportunity to talk with each other and the children.

“The children love hearing their stories from the past, especially if they used to be scouts themselves. It’s a great community event.”
