Musical youth

Henley Bridge Rotary Club has donated £1,200 to Henley Music School.

Henley Bridge Rotary Club has donated £1,200 to Henley Music School. In March the club was treated to two solo performances by children from the school. Thomas Harding, 10, played the saxophone and Mae Reineke,15, daughter of school founder Laura Reineke, played the violin. Laura then spoke to the members about the work of the school. The Rotarians were so impressed by the hard work and enthusiasm of teachers and pupils that they decided to award the school two bursaries of £600 to allow two children to learn an instrument. A cheque was presented by Rotarian Mike Pooley at one of the school&rsquos regular Sunday rehearsals. Mrs Rieneke said the money would be used to support two children who otherwise wouldn&rsquot be able to afford lessons. She added: “Our ethos is that every child should have the opportunity to play and love music, regardless of age, ability, means or background. We are delighted and very grateful to the Rotary club for its support.”
