Hidden Henley

THE River & Rowing Museum in Henley has reopened following refurbishment.

But even when it was closed the scene in my picture can be viewed through the entrance to the car park and is well worth a look.

These impressive sculptures, 2.25m high, commemorate the unique achievement of Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent in 2000 in gaining their fifth and third Olympic gold medals respectively.

Sculptor Sean Henry captured the pair as they would look for a training session on the river.

The accompanying information board reads: “Contemplating the river prior to rowing”.
