Swimming returns to regatta

CHILDREN aged 12 and over can take part in this year’s Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta Swim.

CHILDREN aged 12 and over can take part in this year’s Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta Swim.

The event, held on August 6 at 6.30am, will allow youngsters to enter the 1km or Go with the Flow fun swim if they have pre-registered and a parent is present on the day. They must also wear a wetsuit.

Back for a third year, Go with the Flow, sees participants walk the upstream portion of the course before entering the water.

Adults can choose to do the 1,000m, 2,000m or Go with the Flow swim options which commence from 6.30am.

The 1,000m course consists of a swim up-stream from just above the George & Dragon pub to the Railway Bridge and back. Competitors of the 2,000m swim complete two laps of the same course.

Canoeists from the Wargrave Boat Club will escort participants throughout the swim, aided by spotters on the bank. All those taking part are rewarded with breakfast.

Places are limited and registration is now open on the Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta site www.wsregatta.co.uk
