AIR Marshal Sean Reynolds praised RAF Benson personnel during a visit, which included the presentation of the RAF Road Safety Rose Bowl. He presided over an honours and awards ceremony tin which medals, trophies and two royal warrants were presented. Operational service medals with Afghanistan Clasp were presented to: Fl Lt Olafemi Xavier; Chief Technician James Wilson; Sgt Peter Nunn; Cpl Scott Cash; Cpl Jody Moran; Senior Aircraftman Jake Carless, Michelle Flanagan and Sam Mear. The Accumulated Campaign Service Medal, awarded for 720 days aggregated service in operational theatres, was awarded to Corp Dan Hansford. The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, presented to personnel worthy of distinction who have completed 15 years of service, was awarded to: Sgt Michael Robertshaw; Sgt Rick Walsh; Corp Warren Blandford and Corp Lauren Ferguson. The Royal Warrant, which is for airmen and women who achieve promotion to warrant officer was presented to Warrant Officer Byron Appleby and Warrant Officer Paul Royer. Air Marshall Reynolds said: “It has been a great honour, pleasure and privilege to be here. These awards are the service’s way of recognising excellence, whether it be for service in foreign lands, lengthy and protracted service or outstanding performance.” He also watched the annual cadet camps, which run for 10 weeks during the summer.
