A VETERAN runner from Peppard will take on his last long-distance challenge next Sunday (October 9).

Jon Ryan, 68, will take part in the Royal Parks Foundation half marathon to raise money for Future Hope.

The charity provides homes, school and medical programmes for vulnerable children from the streets and slums of Kolkata.

Mr Ryan, a retired journalist, worked voluntarily for the charity for 10 weeks in 2011.

He has previously run four London marathons and six Henley half marathons and said: “This is definitely the last one so if anyone wants to sponsor me this is the last chance.

“It is a fantastic cause so if I have to suffer for a couple of hours it does not matter.”
