THE 27th annual Watlington Art Show has been hailed a success.

THE 27th annual Watlington Art Show has been hailed a success.

More than 300 pieces by 55 professional and amateur artists were on show at the town’s primary school on Saturday and Sunday. They included watercolours and oil paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photographs and most were available to buy. Pupils had created a batik tapestry featuring animals.

About 300 people visited the show and a private viewing on Friday raised more than £1,000 for the school. Rachel Gill, one of the organisers from the school’s parent teacher association, said: “It’s one of our main fund-raisers as the school gets 20 per cent of sales.”

All proceeds will help promote the artistic development of the children and go towards brass instruments for pupils in years five and six.
