YEAR 7 pupils at Shiplake College spent an afternoon with 20 members of the Rosemary Club for elderly people.
Twenty-eight students attended the event at the village memorial hall where they sang as a group I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts and Shine by Take That.
After their performance, everyone enjoyed tea and biscuits together.
Members of the club, who meet at the hall every other Tuesday, said they enjoyed the singing and hoped the boy would visit again.
Andy Dix, assistant head (outreach) at the school, said: “There is much research on the positive impact of children engaging with senior citizens and here it was clear to see.
“With one of the members approaching her 100th birthday, it was amazing to witness that an age gap of 88 years did not prevent common ground being covered in conversation.”
