11.35am

Thames Rowing Club beat Upper Thames Rowing Club in The Wyfold Challenge Cup semi-final for the club men’s four in a time of six minutes and 54 seconds by two lengths.

The race judge said Thames led from the start and “prevailed” over a spirited opponent.

The Upper Thames boat crew comprised of Jordan Pepermans, Ollie Ayres, Steve Griffiths and Tim Grant.

11.10am

Star and Arrow Club beat The Tideway Scullers' School and Delftsche Studenten Roeivereeniging Proteus-Eretes, Netherlands in a time of six minutes and 40 seconds by one third of a length.

The Star and Arrow boat comprised of Olympic gold medallist Will Satch and silver medalist Jack Beaumont, Sam Meijer and Sebastian Devereux.

Will Satch said: “It was a good race, Jack had a good line but there is no expectation from us because we haven’t trained. It’s a bit of a motley crew just thrown together. There is a lot of depths and turns in it. There is no real expectation, rowing together has been a good laugh and with really talented guys makes it good fun.”

Coach for Star and Arrow, Maurice Hayes, said: “It went exactly as I thought it would go, we stayed in position and then took off. It was an amazing finish. Tomorrow’s going to be a lot harder, the Dutch are really good in their race.”

The race judge the “very experienced” local crew pulled out all the stops to a fine grandstand finish.

10.15am

Leander Club ‘A’ beat University of Washington U.S.A in The Town Challenge Cup for the open women’s four oars in a time of seven minutes and 47 seconds by two and a half lengths.

The race judge said Leander set of at a “very high rate” and “rapidly moved ahead”. By the quarter mile mark, they had settled into a strong powerful rhythm and gradually reduced the rate to maintain a comfortable lead. Washington never let up but were unable to make an impression.

10.10am

Leander Club beat Sudbury Rowing Club easily in The Double Sculls Challenge Cup in a time of seven minutes and 42 seconds.

10.05am

Leander Club ‘B’ beat University of California, Berkeley 'A', U.S.A. in The Visitors’ Challenge Cup, for the intermediate men’s four oars in a time of six minutes and 43 seconds by one and one quarter of a length.

The race judge said: “Both crews started well. They came together at the top of the island but soon separated. Leander had a lovely rhythm and edged away to a lead they held on to.”

9.45am

Leander Club beat Sydney Rowing Club in The Wargrave Challenge Cup, for the women’s eight oars with coxswain, in a time of seven minutes and 21 seconds.

Leander Club beat Sydney Rowing Club by one and one quarter of a length in steady drizzle weather conditions.

The race judge said Leander took control early and were able to row away from a levelly Sydney.

9.35am

Australia Rowing Club beat Leander Club in The Hambledon Pair’s Challenge Cup in a time fo eight minutes and eight seconds by two and one quarter of a length.

The Leander Club crew comprised of A.E. Standing and J.M. Perry.

9.15am

Leander Club ‘A’ beat Roeivereeniging Studenten Vreie Universiteit Okeanos and Tilburgse Studenten Roeivereniging Vidar from the Netherlands in The Visitor’s Challenge Cup, for intermediate men’s four oars in a time of six minutes and 46 seconds.

Leander Club beat the team by two and one quarter of a length.

The race judge said that Leander took an early lead and settled into a “smooth, powerful rhythm” which allowed them to move away but the Netherlands continued to race hard.

The judges described them as two “fine crews”.

The Leander Club boat comprised B. R. Turnell, J. D. Bowesman-Jones, P.Lancashire and C.B. Tarczy.

8.30am

Cambridge Boat Club U.S.A beat Leander Club in the Stonor Challenge Trophy easily in a time of eight minutes and seven seconds in the open women’s double sculls.

The Leander boat comprised K.J. Burton and K. Birch.
