JUST five matches survived the freezing conditions last Sunday in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s League.
Of the matches played, WARGRAVE WOMEN eased to a comfortable 5-1 Division 3 South home win against visitors BERKS COUNTY WOMEN.
Bede Pharoah-Lunn and Millie Whitmee both netted two goals each while Beth Williams was also on target for the hosts.
In the Development Division, ROTHERFIELD UNITED WOMEN DEVELOPMENT recorded their biggest win of the campaign as they thrashed basement-side EC7 WOMEN 8-0 at Denefield School. The game started evenly with both teams testing the goalkeepers.
Rotherfield took the lead in the 15th minute with a fine strike from Georgia Scott. EC7 put on some pressure until Scott scored her second goal 10 minutes later. This was followed with a brace by Emily Norman to take the match to 4-0 at half-time.
EC7 started the second half strongly with some impressive football, but the Rotherfield defence stayed strong and kept them out.
Georgia Hill then fired a shot from 25 yards out which rebounded off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net to make it 5-0.
The game ended 8-0 with additional goals from Ellie Gallagher and Dagmar Heilbuth and four assists for winger Daisy Stokoe.
