A MINUTE’S silence was held for Tony Lane at the Henley Town Council meeting on Tuesday evening.
Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak said Mr Lane had given great service to the council.
Former mayor Barry Wood, who was in the public gallery, said: “I do believe that this council, in recognition of a man who did 38 years of noble service for this council and 27 years on the district council, ought to be recognised in some way.”
He said it was not possible to award Mr Lane the town medal posthumously and he had in mind a plaque.
The Mayor said the proposal should be considered by the town and community committee and perhaps be opened up to the public for their views.
