A MUSICIAN who grew up in Henley has become only the second saxophonist to win a gold medal at a national music competition.
Huw Wiggin, 27, received £15,000 in prize money after winning the Royal Over-Seas League contest, which has been going 62 years.
Earlier this year, he won a medal in the wind and percussion section of the competition.
The competition was held at the South Bank Centre in London and the prizes were presented by Princess Alexandra, who is vice- patron of the League.
Mr Wiggin said: “It feels amazing to be part of such a prestigious competition with such incredible musicians. I feel really honoured to have won the gold and I’m looking forward to a bright future.”
