ANN DUCKER, the leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, passed away yesterday (Sunday), following a short illness.
Councillor Ducker, who lived in Goring, served 32 unbroken years as a Conservative councillor from 1983.
She was chairman of the council for two years from 1992 to 1994, leader of the Conservative group in 1995 and leader of the council in 2003.
Mrs Ducker was made a Member of the British Empire in 2010 for services to local government.
She often spoke fondly of her investiture at Windsor Castle and the pride she felt not just for herself but the whole council.
