MILLIE RING passed away at the Chilterns End care home in Greys Road, Henley, on Monday last week, aged 104.

She had lived there for the past six years and was cared for in the very best way. She was always changed into cheerful clothing, her hair was always washed and she was fed well, with entertainment always available. I give my unending thanks for this. Three times a week, I took her shopping to Tesco in Reading Road at her request.

The staff there were great, always greeting her with, “hello, Millie” and even giving her birthday cards.

In the car park, a member of staff named John would help me to get her in and out of her wheelchair, which was brilliant.

I would like to thank all the people in these two places. I am now convinced that human beings are very lovely people.

Millie moved from Bexhill-on-Sea to live with me after my father George died in 2003. She moved to Chilterns End in 2007. Her funeral was held at Reading Crematorium yesterday (Thursday) and was followed by a reception at the White Hart in Nettlebed.
