POLICE are investigating an alleged plot to kill the Russian owner of Park Place in Remenham.

Andrey Borodin, who bought the £140million estate in 2011, was granted asylum by the Home Office despite being wanted on criminal charges in his homeland.

A would-be hitman has said he was offered £660,000 to kill the 45-year-old former Bank of Moscow president who fled Russia with his wife Tatiana after claiming that he was being persecuted by allies of President Vladimir Putin.

Mr Borodin, who has an estimated $800 million fortune, has funded human rights groups opposed to Mr Putin’s regime.
