A GIRL from Caversham has reached the third round of a nationwide singing competition.

A GIRL from Caversham has reached the third round of a nationwide singing competition.

India Nugent, 12, was shortlisted for the area final stage of Teen Star UK after performing at the Bex Theatre in Middlesex.

Competing in the under-12s category, she performed a ?mash up? of Guns And Horses by Ellie Goulding and Only Love by Ben Howard.

India, a pupil at Highdown School in Emmer Green, said: ?I was quite nervous and even more than last time as there was an audience there.

?I thought it went okay and the feedback I got was that I had a lovely tone and a sweet rasp. They told me to work on my confidence so I have been practising lots since.?

India, a former pupil at Sacred Heart in Henley and St Martin?s Primary School in Caversham, is now two rounds away from the chance to sing live at the O2 in London and a prize of £5,000.

She said: ?I do not know what I will sing for the next round but I think it will be a mash up again.?

India lives with her parents, Hayley and Hamish, and younger brother Phoenix, eight, in Woodcote Road.

She has singing lessons every other week as well as weekly practices for school productions and is a member of Act Now Entertainment.
