A FESTIVAL to mark St George’s Day will be held in Watlington tomorrow (Saturday).

The fourth annual event, organised by Watlington Business Association, will include a performance by the Towersey Morris Men.

The town will be decorated in patriotic colours and food, charity and craft stalls will line the high street.

Watlington in Bloom will be among the community groups represented.

Other attractions will include a barbecue provided by Calnan Bros butchers.

Simon Jones, chairman of the association, said: “It’s a great chance for people to see how well Watlington does St George’s Day and to shop.”

Joanna Bains, co-owner of The Cakemakers, has organised the event with Robin Holmes-Smith, from the Granary Delicatessen.

She said: “There will lots of local food producers, including a woman selling honey and someone from Christmas Common selling jams.”

The festival will take place from 10am to 2pm and the Morris men will perform from 11.30am for about an hour.
