ENTRIES have opened for this year’s Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta.
The event, to be held on August 9 and 10, dates back to 1867 and features races for skiffs, punts and canoes.
There are events for boys, girls, men, women, mixed crews and veterans.
Highlights include scratch dongling and punting.
The regatta will include an open water swim for the second year following a successful trial run last year.
Up to 150 participants will swim either 1,000m or 2,000m upstream from the St George and Dragon pub in Wargrave, turning under the railway bridge before heading back.
The regatta is open to all and participants do not have to be a member of a boat club or own their own boat.
No prior experience is needed as equipment and training are provided.
Practice sessions at Wargrave Boating Club, Station Road, Wargrave, will start on July 22. For more information, visit www.wsregatta.co.uk
An open day will be held at Henley Sailing Club in Willow Lane, Wargrave, on Saturday, June 1 from 2pm. All are welcome.
