Jamie Bruce philosophical after Voice exit

HENLEY singer Jamie Bruce crashed out of the knockout stage of BBC?s The Voice at the weekend.

HENLEY singer Jamie Bruce crashed out of the knockout stage of BBC?s The Voice at the weekend.

On Saturday night?s show he was chosen by mentor Tom Jones to sing against fellow group members Cherelle Basquine and Alys Williams.

The three acts were singing for a place in the finals as Jones and fellow coaches Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny O?Donoghue each cut their groups from seven to three.

Bruce performed first, choosing Papa Was A Rollin? Stone by The Temptations. Jones said: ?Jamie is a soul singer. You would not expect that kind of stuff to come out of his big mouth.

?He has a lot of life and shape in his voice and that was what I love about him because he is different and he is great.

?Jamie has taken on a big thing. It is a lot of song for a short amount of time so it is a tall order but he is a tall fella so he will be able to pull it off.? Following the performances, Jessie J told Bruce: ?You were throwing riffs in like they were nothing.?

Jones added: ?Jamie was Jamie and he did it well. You were in tune and you gave it the full amount so that was great.?

However, he then chose Williams to go through. Bruce, 34, of Reading Road, Henley, told the Henley Standard: ?I think my song was a bit more interesting than what everyone else did ? I think it stood out as it had energy and was a strong physical performance.

?Vocally I was pleased, although it could have been slightly better, but even on my A game I do not think I could have beaten Alys.

?The reaction she got from the crowd... something was magical that night for her.

?Of course I am disappointed but when you lose to someone who has put in a better performance than you, you cannot be bitter.

?I want to keep the momentum going so that I become part of people?s vocabularies.

?I am shooting some test shots for TV to be sent off to companies to become a TV presenter. I am also doing a pilot for a cooking show and the bookings are coming in. I will do whatever I can.

?This has been a really positive experience.?
