Calling all good sports in canine world

DOGS are invited to persuade their owners to enter them for the Companion Dog Show on Saturday.

DOGS are invited to persuade their owners to enter them for the Companion Dog Show on Saturday. Entries will be taken at the Henley Show ground on the day, from 11.30am, and judging starts from 1pm.

There are two categories in this year’s competition: Pedigree Section in ring one, and the Novelty Section in ring two.

In the pedigree section there are seven classes — Veteran (aged seven plus), puppy (six months to one year), sporting, non-sporting, brace, open and best child handler (age six to 16).

In the novelty secion there are prizes in the following classes — cutest puppy (six to 12 months), best crossbreed, waggiest tail, top dog, prettiest bitch and judge’s choice.

A prize for best in show will be awarded in both categories. Puppies under six months are not eligible to enter.

The entry fee is £2 per class, or £5 for entering in three different classes.

The dog show manager will be James Wetherall. Judges will be Helen Anderson in the pedigree section and Julie Blair in the novelty section.
